Each week we’ll endeavour to publish some details of the interesting things that members of DoES Liverpool have been up to over the past seven days. You can find out a bit more about them in our introductory post.
And remember, if you’re involved with DoES Liverpool at all, let us know what you get up to so we can include it here!
FutureGazing
Join us this Wednesday 10th August 2022 in the Event space, DoES Liverpool, 6.30pm-8.30pm to think about our future, how we can keep supporting people to do their best work, grow into the lives they want to lead, and to explore and create ways of working and living for the modern day in a just society. See this blog post from Adrian for more ideas.
Pies, drinks and air-conditioning provided.
Things of Note
- Adrian McEwen: I love the way We Have Never Been Individuals is riffing on the “What DoES stands for” poster with the poster advertising August 10th’s Future Gazing session to think about how the DoES Liverpool space and community should evolve #weeknotes pic.twitter.com/litqAGPr9c
- Alex: We went down to visit with the lovely people Digital Catapult the other day to hear all about whether #OpenSource makes for better security. Bruce Perens K6BP – I Stand with Ukraine was key-noting which was a particular pleasure to see! #weeknotesYou can see the full talk here: youtube.com/watch?v=PgplJP… pic.twitter.com/luTSaycdxi

Sunday 14 August, 2:00pm-5:00pm | In a world with mountains of plastic and molehills of play, let’s get our spades out and shift the balance.
Make new things from abandoned plastic with us. Plantpots, purses … pedalos? Shred plastic. Blend it. Meld scraps together with a heat gun. Make sheets. Laser cut it. CNC it. Stitch potato bags together with soldering iron? Make fabrics with a regular iron? What have we got, what can we make? We don’t know – let’s figure it out! Two rules: 1. No Objectives – this is an aimless and wandering session. Every two weeks on a Sunday afternoon, between 2pm and 5pm. Facilitated by Plastic Tactics – follow on social for the latest updates, and to see what we make if you can’t be here in person: |
