Laser Cutting

Our laser cutters are incredibly popular – obviously, they’re lasers!

We currently have two cutters – one with a cutting bed that is roughly A3 in size, and one that is slightly bigger than A0 –  and have another, even bigger machine being prepared for use. The lasers are mainly used to cut wood and acrylic, although we’ve used plenty of other materials too, from foam to fabric, and even etched onto things like Kendal Mint Cake. It is worth pointing out that you cannot cut or etch metals on our laser cutters, and we cannot allow you to use materials which can give off dangerous fumes. We keep a stock of laser grade plywood and various colours of acrylic that you can purchase, or bring your own.

Unlike most workshops, we don’t have a technician on hand to do the work for you. Instead, you go through an induction (bookable through the ‘Availability’ button in the main menu) and are then able to use the machines whenever you like. This is how we keep our prices as low as we do – a day on the lasers costs no more than a day at a desk, so if you’re looking to try your hand at something creative, this is the perfect place to start.

You can find more in-depth information on our laser cutters on the wiki, or feel free to contact us with any questions.
