Each week we’ll endeavour to publish some details of the interesting things that members of DoES Liverpool have been up to over the past seven days. You can find out a bit more about them in our introductory post.
And remember, if you’re involved with DoES Liverpool at all, let us know what you get up to so we can include it here!
July Start Boost Membership
Once again it’s time to announce the chance to get a free 6 month membership to DoES Liverpool. Find out more here and please share on social media and with anyone you think might benefit.
Applications will close at 11:59pm on 13th June 2023 and the successful applicants will be announced on 15th June 2023.
Liverpool MakeFest
As you can see below, we had a great time at Wirral MakeFest this Saturday.
It’s Liverpool MakeFest on Saturday 1st July when we’ll have even more space to show off all the great things people have been making at DoES Liverpool.
If you’d like to come along and help, or have something you’ve made that you’d like to display, then please add your details to the relevant Git issues or have a word with one of the DoES Liverpool organisers. Even if you’re not sure you’ll finish in time it’s useful for us to be able to know what we might need to set up.
Things of Note
- @matthewcroughan@defenestrate.it: Showing off nixified.ai to some very excited kids at WirralMakeFest. This #AI is creating images using #diffusers from speech via #VOSK. Simply say it, and it appears. 100% offline and #FOSS. They love making fun of Jeff and Zuck.#nixos #weeknotes #reproducibility pic.twitter.com/m3a3dDRoby
- DoES Liverpool: We had a great time at the inaugural WirralMakeFest yesterday, demonstrating some of our makes and products, and meeting up with friends old and new.
Thanks to the organisers and volunteers, including everyone who helped out on our stand.

#WeekNotes pic.twitter.com/UlECXcx6DP - Jackie Pease: We took a cheeky pic of my comet in one of the galleries Williamson Art Gallery & Birkenhead Priory WirralMakeFest yesterday as it was too 🌞 outside.
Created as a collaborative build with Convenience Gallery and still getting lots of collaboration – yesterday with visitors to @Plastacs stand.

Plastic PlaygroupIn a world with mountains of plastic and molehills of play, let’s get our spades out and shift the balance.Make new things from abandoned plastic with us. Plantpots, purses … pedalos? Shred plastic. Blend it. Meld scraps together with a heat gun. Make sheets. Laser cut it. CNC it. Stitch potato bags together with soldering iron? Make fabrics with a regular iron? What have we got, what can we make? We don’t know – let’s figure it out! Two rules: 1. No Objectives – this is an aimless and wandering session. 2. Bring Your Own Initiative – this is an active session and we’ll help you get creative. Every two weeks on a Sunday afternoon, between 2pm and 5pm. Facilitated by Plastic Tactics – follow on social for the latest updates, and to see what we make if you can’t be here in person: |
