Things of Note

MCQN Ltd:

We had a really good #MYBikesGotLED fitting session last night at @DoESLiverpool This was all in preparation for #StealingSheep band’s performance tonight.

We’ve put a lot of effort into getting people along and make the whole event #Glo for the #GloRide.

The lights were riding out the door as fast as we could fit them.

The the white DoES Liverpool Events space, Guy stands looking westward while in the back ground Stewart and Adrian look down at Stewart's bike. A gentle orange glow from Stew's My Bikes Git LED lights up their faces.
  • Andy Green (the 3D printing one), emailed this photo of his artwork, “Memories of Matsushima”. After laser cutting and sanding, he tinted the birch ply with Yorkshire tea and matcha green tea, and it’s now on its way to Japan.

We’re organising a DoES Epic Trip to Leigh for 29th March. You can follow the discussion in our Google Group here. There are 7 people going so far, get in touch if you want to join us.

Things of Note

  • Adrian McEwen:Today’s task: find out if you can plait LED noodles with old gear/brake cables.First off, I need to dismantle the last quick LED noodle experiment, my quick-and-dirty rear bike arrow.#weeknotes #LED
  • Adrian McEwen:So, it seems that you can plait noodles and brake cables 😀Shortens the length of the LED quite a bit, and gives it an interesting wavy pattern. A little tricky to get a tight weave on the plait given the difference in strength/flexibility of the brake cable versus the noodle.#weeknotes #LED #plait #BikeTooter
A loop made of plaited LED noodle and bike gear/brake cable, held by a set of long-nosed pliers. The handles of the pliers are resting on the edge of a table with the nose hanging over the edge. The loop is vertical in free air, and the LED noodle makes a wavy pattern due to the plaiting.

"Spring Boost"

It’s time to launch the process for the next round of Boost Membership. This would be the cohort that will have their membership from April 2025 – September 2025.

If you already know what you’re doing then head over here to apply otherwise read on for more information about Boost membership.

Apply for Boost Membership

The DoES Liverpool Boost Membership was introduced to celebrate the 10th anniversary of DoES Liverpool – the amazing coworking and shared workshop space in the Fabric District of Liverpool. Boost membership gives two people the opportunity to use the space free of charge for six months either with an allocated desk or by having 24-hour access to the workshop.

As things continue to be difficult for people due to inflation, fuel prices and all the economic woes we’re dealing with at the moment we thought it would be worth pointing out that boost membership is open to anyone, even existing paying members. If 6 months free membership would help you out at the moment then feel free to apply, of course if you’re not already a paying member you are still welcome to apply.

Applications are open until 11:59pm on Sunday 16th March 2024, any applications received after this point will not be considered. We will endeavour to announce the winners as soon as possible afterwards.

We have a dedicated page with lots more information about Boost Membership so if you want to find out more just head over there and take a look!
