DoES is having a birthday party thing at the end of the month – Saturday 30th August to be precise – and we’re looking for people who would be up for taking part, showing off what they do, maybe selling some bits if people are interested?
It’s going to be like a Maker Fair/Open Day/Party all rolled into one, with some taster sessions and things like that. Here’s some details!
Daytime (12pm–5pm): Maker & Craft Fair + Taster Sessions
We’ll host stalls and drop-in workshops in the event space.
We’re looking for:
- Makers or crafters who might want a stall (approx. 10 tables)
- Community members to run short “taster” sessions (~20 mins each)
Stalls
- Mix of maker and craft stalls — think market vibes!
- Selling can be cash or card.
- No charge for stalls (it’s a birthday party, after all!)
Taster Sessions (Drop-ins at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm)
Quick intros to tools and skills. Potential topics (feel free to offer something else if you have it!):
- Sewing
- 3D Printing
- Laser Cutting
- FreeCAD intro
- Soldering
- 3D Scanning
These are intended to be beginner-friendly, drop-in sessions to spark interest and show off what DoES can do.
Evening (5pm–11pm): Community Food share, Talks, Karaoke
5-7pm Community meal – Bring and share food
Bring your own refreshments – Supermarkets are nearby
7-8pm Talks – Ignite style talks – short and sweet.
8pm till close – Karaoke
So, as you can see, lots going on. Hopefully you’ll be up for taking part!
We have a Google Form that you can fill in to express an interest, and feel free to tell friends and family!
