SUMMARY:Sari Forest brings to you - Mindful Movement
DESCRIPTION:ALL AGES \nSettle into the space with a grounding seated stretch with Maxine Sharples \n  \nThis gentle\, grounding movement class takes place surrounded by the Sari Forest installation. Participants will be guided through a mindful journey that begins with a seated stretch to settle into the space. \nUsing the saris as a stimulus\, the session explores breath\, rhythm\, and embodied expression. Expect soft\, intuitive movements that respond to the fabric’s texture and flow\, inviting presence\, release\, and connection through motion. All bodies and abilities welcome. \nThere will also be an opportunity to explore the Installation. \nWhat to Bring \nA Mat\, or a cushion\, would be useful. You are also invited to bring a flowing scarf/fabric. \n(Please let us know if you’re unable to bring a mat or cushion.) It’s all about what makes you feel comfortable. \n  \nAbout the Project \nThe Workshops being held over the weekend are part of multidisciplinary artist Komal Madar’s project\, the Sari Forest. \nThe Sari Forest is a cultural\, immersive installation and performance project made from donated saris\, suspended to form a maze-like structure. This evolving environment invites visitors to explore healing and expression through voice\, movement\, and interaction. Rooted in community\, memory\, and care\, the space becomes both sanctuary and stage. \nAlongside the installation\, a workshop programme led by trained facilitators includes Creative Writing\, Indian Folk Art\, and a Mindful Movement class. These workshops aim to build confidence\, spark creativity\, share personal stories\, and nurture new connections across communities. \nThis soft launch is part of a long-term social engagement project that brings people together through fabric\, storytelling\, and embodied experience.
