Each week we’ll endeavour to publish some details of the interesting things that members of DoES Liverpool have been up to over the past seven days. You can find out a bit more about them in our introductory post.
And remember, if you’re involved with DoES Liverpool at all, let us know what you get up to so we can include it here!
New Boost Membership Round – July Start
Just a reminder that it’s time to apply for the next round of our Boost membership, starting 1st July. Please tell anyone you think might benefit.
Boost Membership was introduced to celebrate the 10th anniversary of DoES Liverpool – the amazing coworking and shared workshop space in the Fabric District of Liverpool. It gives two people the opportunity to use the space free of charge for six months either with an allocated desk or by having 24-hour access to the workshop.
As things continue to be difficult for people due to inflation, fuel prices and all the economic woes we’re dealing with at the moment we thought it would be worth pointing out that Boost membership is open to anyone, even existing paying members. If 6 months free membership would help you out at the moment then feel free to apply, of course if you’re not already a paying member you are still welcome to apply.
Applications are open until 11:59pm on Saturday 31st May 2025, any applications received after this point will not be considered. We will endeavour to announce the winners as soon as possible afterwards.
We had a great time at Wirral MakeFest (see photos below), thanks to everyone who took part, and to the event organisers who made sure everything ran smoothly. Just another reminder that this year’s Liverpool Makefest will be on Saturday 5th July. It’s the 10th anniversary edition, so hopefully there will be lots of returning makers from the first event – we’ve been there every time!
Please get in touch if you want to display your stuff on our stand (Github issue here that you can add your details to). If you or any makers you know would like their own stand then please fill out the form here before the end of the month. Spread the word!
Things of Note
Adrian McEwen:Currently running what’s probably the longest 3D print to be done at @DoESLiverpool, a reprint (but at higher resolution) of the DoES Tower – a model of the St. John’s Beacon here in Liverpool.
It’s not actually going to take nearly 10 days, that’s the printer being pessimistic; but it will be nearly 4 and a half days 😄
Museum in a Box:We were out yesterday at Wirral Makefest and having a lovely day telling everyone about how MiaB works. We’re featured on the @DoESLiverpool stand, which is where we have our office.
DoES Liverpool:Some of the DoES Liverpool team, with visitors, at #wirralmakefest2025 on Saturday.
Thanks to the organisers. We had an excellent time meeting visitors and other makers.
Mike brought along two panels of his VLG (Very Large Rug), which can be seen in the background. #WeekNotes
PVTV’s Creative Meet-Ups are informal, collaborative sessions where
artists, filmmakers, and creatives of all levels come together to share
ideas, work on projects, and develop new skills. Whether you’re into
filmmaking, animation, or experimental art, these meet-ups offer a
supportive space to brainstorm, get feedback, and connect with
like-minded individuals. Everyone is welcome, and no experience is
necessary—just bring your enthusiasm!
Maker Night
Our free weekly evening meeting where you can find out about our space and all the making equipment in it, get a laser cutter or CNC embroidery machine induction, and work on projects from physical computing and electronics to 3d printing, routing and sewing. Just pay for materials used.
The DoES Liverpool to-do list is stored in the issues of our Somebody Should repository on github. Head over there if there’s something you’d like to report, or if you want to help out fixing things.

Wirral MakeFest is happening this Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at Birkenhead Central Library. DoES Liverpool have a stall and need volunteers (especially as it’s on the same day as our Monthly Maker Day and we need to cover both!). It’s a great opportunity to see what other makers around the area are doing too (and part of the build up to Liverpool Maker Day in July).
Please get in touch (with Jackie, Mike or Zarino) if you’d like to help setting up from 16:00 on Friday, taking part on Saturday (setting up from 8:40, event starts at 10:00), or bringing stuff back to DoES on Monday (4pm at the library). The Github issue is here with all the details.

Plastic Playgroup (DoES Workshop)
In a world with mountains of plastic and molehills of play, let’s get our spades out and shift the balance.Make new things from abandoned plastic with us. Plantpots, purses … pedalos?Shred plastic. Blend it. Meld scraps together with a heat gun. Make sheets. Laser cut it. CNC it. Stitch potato bags together with soldering iron? Make fabrics with a regular iron? What have we got, what can we make? We don’t know – let’s figure it out!
Two rules:
1. No Objectives – this is an aimless and wandering session.
2. Bring Your Own Initiative – this is an active session and we’ll help you get creative.
Every two weeks on a Sunday afternoon, between 2pm and 5pm.Facilitated by Plastic Tactics – follow on social for the latest updates, and to see what we make if you can’t be here in person: http://instagram.com/plastacs http://twitter.com/plastacs http://facebook.com/plastictacticsliverpool
